Recently, ShanghaiRanking, a fully independent organization on higher education intelligence and consultation, published “2021 Best Chinese Subjects Rankings”. Seven subjects, constituting 30% of HZNU total first-level disciplines, enters the national top 20%; 20 subjects, 83% of its total first-level disciplines, enters the national top 50%.

Rankings published by it enjoy significant influence both domestically and internationally and are well acknowledged among global universities. In 2003, it published the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for the first time, which is now one of the most influential and authoritative university rankings in the world and has been referred to by world top universities such as Cambridge University and Stanford University for multiple times.
