Hangzhou Normal University hosted its much-anticipated annual “Ginkgo Concert” on November 22 at Cangqian Campus . Set against the golden backdrop of the campus’s iconic ginkgo trees, this beloved event blended the beauty of nature with the transformative power of music, creating an unforgettable artistic experience for students, faculty, and guests alike.
The concert opened with a series of piano performances, including Autumn Whispers and Schubert’s Impromptu in B-flat Major, which captured the essence of the season. These were followed by a dynamic saxophone quartet playing Home and a guzheng ensemble’s enchanting Lotus After the Rain, showcasing the harmonious fusion of Eastern and Western traditions.
Highlight performances by the university’s school of music included the heartfelt duet My Love Song, a moving female choir rendition of Little Luck and So Many People in This World, and the nostalgic Farewell, a classic work of Li Shutong, an esteemed predecessor of the university. Each piece resonated deeply with the audience, celebrating the university’s legacy and artistic vision.
The concert’s electric atmosphere was amplified by the enthusiasm of attendees capturing moments on their phones and sharing them widely on social media. Now in its third year,t he “Ginkgo Concert” has become a hallmark of the university’s cultural calendar. It embodies the university’s exploration in creating a “Humanities Academy and Artistic Campus”.
