From March 25 to 27, 133 students and faculty members from VIVES University of Applied Sciences in Belgium visited Hangzhou Normal University for a three-day cultural exchange program.

During their stay, the group explored various aspects of Hangzhou’s culture and innovation. They attended a lecture on China’s digital economy at Alibaba Business School, experienced traditional Chinese art and heritage through performances and hands-on workshops, and participated in friendly sports matches and martial arts activities. They also visited local tech companies to learn more about Hangzhou’s development as a smart city.

The program highlighted HZNU’s commitment to international exchange and cross-cultural understanding. It was warmly received by participants and gained attention from local media.

At the end of the visit, students from the School of Music performed a farewell ritual of presenting willow branches to students from VIVES, an ancient gesture of parting and remembrance — symbolizing the lasting friendship between China and Belgium.
