Recently, the symposium on Building a China-LAC Community with a Shared Future was held at Hangzhou Normal University. Focusing on China-LAC cooperation and development, this event built a bridge for dialogue and exchange between the Caribbean region and Chinese universities. Diplomats from various Caribbean countries and faculty and student representatives from the Center for Caribbean Studies at HZNU, all coming together to forge consensus on deepening the construction of a community with a shared future.
During the symposium, both sides extensively exchanged views on how China and Caribbean countries can strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, climate change, medical technology, and people-to-people exchanges. Professor Zhang Xingwei shared his experience of helping Antigua and Barbuda build a Cardiovascular and Chest Pain Center and conducting science education, and put forward suggestions for further medical cooperation between the two sides. In addition, professors from various schools of HZNU also offered their insights and suggestions for deepening cooperation between China and Caribbean countries based on their respective research fields.
This symposium not only provided a platform for intellectual exchange, but also forged consensus on jointly building a China-LAC community with a shared future, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation. Through this event, Hangzhou Normal University further expanded its international perspective in education, enhanced its academic influence in the field of regional and country studies, and injected new impetus into deepening cooperation between China and Caribbean countries in areas such as people-to-people exchanges and education.
